All the HP ZE models need the...
Strengths: Looks cool. DVD/RW, 256M, and Fast. Plus it comes with Norton preinstalled.
Weakness: BIOS needs an upgrade to stop it from freezing up. Can't find file sometimes at bootup without the upgrade.
All the HP ZE models need the upgrade. Best Buy service was excellent. But they didn't know about this problem prior to us showing up! The technician found that all of their ZE models on the floor had the same problem. We bought ours over a month ago so there must be many customers with the issue. HP doesn't publish the problem. Weakness: Keyboard, modem, freezes up
Where to begin. Well, the keyborad keys are not beveled so your fingers catch them and they will pop up. Other machines have the keys beveled. The internal modem is junk, it is a Conexant. I have eliminated my server, phone line, and software. Put in PCMCIA modem, zero problems. Called HP, we did troubleshooting. Nothing worked, determined it was the modem. Have case number... 1st one died after about a week. I was afraid HP would give me problems because I dumped Windows XP in favor of Windows 2000 pro. But they paid for next day shipping to and from repair center, and I had it back within a week. Since then it has been running like a champ. This unit has one of the brightest, sharpest, most colorful displays I've ever seen on a notebook. It also has about the worst...
