"Live" Saturday and Sunday Night...
Strengths: The "best" SD/HD-DSB/OTA images I seen today when team-up (hookup with DVI/D cable) to the KV34XBR910. This is my 1st up-grade with a new SD DVD player hookup (component), HDTV, and this STB SATHD300.
Weakness: High retail Price ($699.00).
"Live" Saturday and Sunday Night Football (ESPN/HD) DSB, and Monday Night Football (ABC/HD) OTA broadcasts are the "BEST" HD 720P images I seen on theses two consumer hardware. When teamed up with (DVI/D cable) with the Sony SAT-HD300 STB, and Sony KV-34XBR910 HDTV. AM amazed of the images are sharp, crystal clear, (3/D) and noise-free. The Sony SAT-HD300 is the "BEST" SD/HD OTA&DSB-STB on the...

Guide is the best of all STB's...
Strengths: best HD DirecTV settop box, excellent off air tuner, allows mixing of off air, cable and sat signals into one onscreen guide, simultaneous 480i output for recording programs
Weakness: bugs cause audio dropouts and intermittent lockups. First batches to retail had higher defective rate than typical, no on screen caller ID, IR remote too directional, should have learning remote
Guide is the best of all STB's IMO. Its very fast and easy to navigate. Picture quality is top notch. Does not run hot like many other STB's. If you are looking for a DirecTV HD settop box, the HD300, LG LSS-3200A and Hughes HTLHD are all essentially the same box with minor differences. The Sony being the most expensive has the best looking faceplate and most features. Anyone who can live without...

I would not recommend this...
Strengths: Good HDTV picture, good match with Sony HDTVs.
Weakness: When programming favorite channels, some of the channnel logos do not appear---you only see the channel number. No information on how or if you can program the logos. Poor terrestrial reception.
I would not recommend this product--- pricey, but I was able to find a sale through Circuitcity.com. Works very similar to the Zenith 520 model, and it is supposed to be an improvement over the Sony HD200, but I do not know what improvements are available, other than picture zooming capability. Off the air HD picture IS NOT be quite as crisp as the Zenith, but I haven't completed the picture...

Strengths: The price has finally come down.
Weakness: None that i can see so far since owing it
I cannot believe the recption, and for live sports, well I am ready to catch the ball, Watching one of Barry Bonds homerun splash downs in McCovey splashed out of my screen, on my Hitachi LCD 50" rear projection. My wife even will sit and watch sports all day with me, so fella's this is what you have been waiting for. All of the previous models have been leading up to this winner of a reciever. I...

I purchased the SONY HD 300 in mid...
Strengths: Easy setup and use.
Weakness: None
I purchased the SONY HD 300 in mid October. Believe it or not, I was able to set it up without reading the manual. The short-commings of the HD 200 have been solved with this model. The viewers guide is superior, the remote does not have to be precisely aimed at the unit, the ability to set up favorite channels is easy to use, etc. The satelite broadcasts in HD are excellent. However, the local...
